I am repairing various sections for an irrigation system to ensure proper water flow. Getting the seals right is critical for a leak-free setup when working with underground piping.

Broken PVC Sprinkler Pipe? Fix It in Minutes Without Digging Up Your Whole Yard.
Pipe coupling connectors that range from 1/2 inch all the way up to 4 inches!
When a glued PVC joint pulls apart underground, most people think they have to dig up 4 feet of line just to flex the pipe back into place. You don't. In this video I show you the quick and easy way to repair a separated 1 inch PVC sprinkler line using a telescoping Pro-Span slip fix repair coupling, a short PVC spacer, and a standard coupler.
What happened to my sprinkler line?
The city cranked up the water pressure, blew out my pressure regulator, and instead of running at around 50 PSI, my sprinkler line likely got hit with over 100 PSI. That was enough to push a glued joint completely apart. If you've got a sudden soggy spot in your lawn or a zone that won't pressurize, this could be your problem too.
In this video you'll learn:
✅ How to cut out a damaged section of PVC pipe the right way
✅ Why scraping old glue out of fittings gives you a stronger bond
✅ How to measure and cut a spacer so everything fits with no stress on the line
✅ How a telescoping slip repair coupling extends into place so you don't have to bend or flex buried pipe
✅ How to apply PVC cement for a solid, leak free joint
✅ How long to let it cure before pressure testing and backfilling
✅ A pro tip that will save your hands (learn from my mistake!)
Why use a slip fix repair coupling?
These telescoping couplings slide open after you glue them, letting you bridge a gap in a fixed pipe run. Internal seals keep them watertight under pressure, which makes them perfect for sprinkler and irrigation repairs. They come in sizes from 1/2 inch up through larger diameters for bigger lines. They're rated for cold water only, so they're ideal for lawn sprinkler systems but not for hot water lines. I use the 1/2 inch size all the time on sprinkler lines around my yard.
Materials used:
🔧 1 inch Pro-Span PVC slip fix repair coupling
🔧 1 inch PVC coupler
🔧 Short section of 1 inch PVC pipe (spacer)
🔧 Christy's Red Hot Blue Glue PVC cement
🔧 PVC pipe cutter or saw
🔧 Rubber gloves (seriously, wear them)
Glue tip: I buy a small can of PVC cement instead of a big one. It tends to dry out within a year, so a small can means less waste and fresher glue every time.
The result? After letting it cure overnight in the sun, I ran the sprinklers and the repair held perfectly. No leaks, no drips, just backfill and done.
Whether you're a homeowner tackling your first sprinkler repair or a DIYer who's fixed a few broken lines before, this method will save you time, digging, and frustration.
