KWANKWASIYYA TAKES OVER THE STREETS! NDC MOVEMENT GETS LOUDER! The political temperature ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections is getting hotter, with grassroots mobilisation, political defections and election-security concerns dominating conversations across the country. In this video, we look at the latest activities surrounding the Kwankwasiyya movement, the NDC and Aisha Dahiru Binani in Adamawa State, alongside the growing political activity of NDC figures such as Prof. Lilian Orogbu in Anambra. The Kwankwasiyya movement has been taking its political message to the streets, with supporters raising concerns about election rigging and the need to protect votes ahead of 2027. Some Nigerians reacting to videos of the mobilisation have gone even further, using phrases such as “This is what all collation centres should look like in 2027” and #RigAndDie2027. Those online comments should not be confused with an endorsement of violence or armed confrontation. The central electoral issue is whether votes can be cast, counted, collated and protected through lawful and credible processes. Meanwhile, the NDC has experienced significant political movement. In May 2026, 17 members of the House of Representatives defected from the ADC to the NDC, with the lawmakers citing internal crises in their former party. Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso also formally joined the NDC around the same period, adding another major dimension to the political realignment ahead of 2027. And then there is Aisha Binani. The Adamawa politician's political activities and NDC candidacy have attracted significant attention, particularly because of her previous experience as the APC's 2023 Adamawa governorship candidate. In Anambra, Lilian Orogbu, who was among the lawmakers who moved to the NDC, is also part of the party's growing political structure in Awka North/South.
