A Sunday newspaper in Kenya reports that South Africa has imposed a five-year travel ban on Kenyan citizens who were repatriated by the Kenyan government in July. During unrest linked to protests against undocumented foreign nationals, Kenya offered voluntary repatriation to 472 of its citizens living in South Africa. It is now reported that those who returned to Kenya may not be allowed to travel back to South Africa for at least five years. The reported ban has raised concerns, particularly for those who left behind spouses, children and other family members in South Africa. To discuss the implications of the reported travel ban, we are joined by Dr Enock Makanga, Chairperson of the Protective and Safety Association of Kenya.
