5:58 Gengar's attacks are getting stronger!
We have already defeated Gigantamax Gengar in its past 2 rotations.
Compared to Max Finale, the most significant change was Gengar learning by a new charged move - Drain Punch. With Drain Punch, Gigantamax Gengar has now 2 extremely weak moves - Drain Punch and Shadow Punch - which is double resisted by the best tanks - Dynamax Lugia and Dynamax Blissey - in this game.
In the other hand, charged move is now no longer hindering max meter charge speed, this allow us to damage Gigantamax Gengar deeper while we are charging up the max meter.
Of course, this comes with a cost, Gigantamax Gengar is now having slightly higher attack, while its HP seems to be remaining to be 70000.
These combined allow us to defeat Gigantamax Gengar without relying on Max Mushroom this time.
While we stated Dynamax Lugia is the best tank against Drain Punch, Dynamax Gengar itself can also tank Drain Punch sufficiently. So, we will not spend a team slot on Dynamax Lugia and allocate both remaining slots to Dynamax Blissey.
Since Dynamax Blissey is not a good max meter charger now, we won’t want it to stay in field constantly. As such, it is more preferable to have Drain Punch as LARGE ATTACK and Shadow Punch as target move.
Given target move damage can be further reduced by dodging, Dynamax Blissey can even afford tanking Shadow Ball, which is the matchup we have found this time.
As Dynamax Gengar won’t be able to defeat Gigantamax Gengar before it got stronger, once again, we would focus on surviving through the battle. We will use Max Guard at the beginning of the battle to maximize Dynamax Gengar’s HP throughout the battle.
In the other hand, with 2 Dynamax Blissey, we can wait until one of them is deeply damaged before healing them, this avoid unnecessary max phase on healing up a half HP Dynamax Blissey, especially in 2nd phase.
At last, with Dynamax Cannon adventure effect, the team has defeated Gigantamax Gengar barely before they were overwhelmed by stronger Shadow Ball.
