2026 Runoffs Formula Ford

First Run Offs appearance. Lots of great completion throughout the field. Started P6 as did not find the space in qual to put down a lap. Moved up to front quickly and Ybarra and I set the pace. I concentrated on fuel and tire saving. (Spectrum has a smaller tank and calculations with winter blend were slightly lower fuel mileage so was not taking any chances.) Ran the race I wanted to run. Testing pace and passing opportunities. I had quite a bit left in my tires and pace at end of race. I went for the lead pass on lap 11 of 13 earlier than planned because I saw traffic ahead coming into 5 which felt I could use to split us after the pass in 6/7/8 and hold P1 with tire and pace advantage without waiting for the last lap draft out of 14. Live stream did not show pass. Can see in-car flagtronics and pass was before the yellow flag. Unfortunately and unrelated accident in T1 brought out a black flag and race was rolled back to lap 10. Final placing was P2. Was a great race overall and I am sure both of us would have preferred to run to the checker flag. Always a great time to run against great competitors. Road America is a track that is more a strategy track than an ultimate pace track. It is a lot of fun reacting to and thinking of the possible approach to the win.
