Alleluia. -Gospel: Luke 9:1-6; Jesus summoned Twelve, gave them power over demons and to cure diseases, sent them to proclaim Kingdom and heal. Take nothing for journey. -Saint Pius of Pietrelcina, popularly known as Padre Pio, was born Francesco Forgione in Italy on 25 May 1887. He joined the Capuchin Friars as a young man and was ordained a priest in 1910. He spent most of his priestly life at San Giovanni Rotondo, where he became known for his deep prayer, devotion to the Eucharist, and dedication to hearing confessions. In 1918, he received the stigmata, the wounds of Christ's Passion. Padre Pio also founded the House for the Relief of Suffering, a hospital serving the sick and poor. He died on 23 September 1968 and was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2002. His memorial is celebrated every year on 23 September. He is remembered for his holiness, compassion, prayer, and acceptance of suffering. -Thank you for the active participation and for always praying with us.
