This film follows the handwork behind a Bartmann jug: shaping the body, fitting a handle, pressing a face in a negative mold, and joining the clay relief to the vessel. The eyebrows are memorable. The join is doing a lot of the work.
The pictures come from a 1979 workshop film in Speicher/Eifel, Germany. They show different objects and batches at separate stages, rather than one continuously tracked jug.
The Object Plot — Ordinary objects. Unexpected stories.

CHANGES IN THIS ADAPTATION
The source is cropped and reframed, its workshop operations are reordered, and selected still frames are compared to explain the negative mold and positive relief. New original English commentary, English subtitles, and an original local instrumental score are added. The original German soundtrack is muted. Original source credits are retained here and in the English credits.
