Video 4 of 8 — Texas
Part of an 8-video birthday memorial series for Theresia Forgey.
Ron’s FAA career moved the family through Texas — Dallas–Fort Worth in 1973, Midland in 1975, Lubbock in 1976 — before settling in Houston in 1978, where Ron served as a supervisor at Houston Intercontinental Airport and Ashley spent all of her grade school years. Theresia embraced Houston’s culture, food, and arts: she loved museums and film festivals, took art classes alongside Ashley at the Glassell School of Art, helped design the neighborhood playground and a native-plant nature trail in Ponderosa, joined book clubs, was a devoted soccer mom, and belonged to Mercer Arboretum. From 1988 to 1993, during her years with KLM, she and her family traveled frequently throughout Central America and Europe.
Music: ""Cotton-Eyed Joe"" — Theresia loved line dancing at the honky-tonks, which reminded her of the dance halls back in Belgium.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Sjögren’s Foundation in Theresia’s memory: https://www.sjogrens.org/get-involved/ways...
