My wife found a chandelier online that she wanted for our entryway. It was $1,899. And made from upcycled pallet wood. Naturally, I decided I could build a better one out of solid walnut. What I hadn't considered was the amount of math, sanding, problem-solving, and questionable decision-making involved in building a 30-inch walnut chandelier from scratch. 48 walnut strips, two plywood rings, a Shaper Origin I probably have no business owning, and the most ridiculous glue-up I've ever attempted. Oh, and I nearly rolled the entire thing off the table. In this video, I'm building a custom walnut chandelier using woodworking techniques, a few unnecessarily expensive tools, and considerably more patience than I expected to need. Was it worth building instead of buying the $1,900 original? I'll let you decide. If you enjoyed the build, consider subscribing. I've got plenty more projects coming, and my ability to underestimate them remains impressive.
