Fly fishing Arizona creeks for brown trout is one of our favorite ways to spend time on the water. On this trip, we headed back to one of our favorite creeks in Arizona to catch brown trout on dry flies while sharing some of the strategies and techniques we’ve learned over the years. We break down how we approach creek fishing, from working upstream and reading the water to identifying productive pools and choosing the right flies. Throughout the day, we put these strategies into practice, catching brown trout while explaining what we look for and how we approach different sections of a creek. We also share some of our favorite flies for Arizona trout fishing, along with recommendations on fly rods, reels, fly lines, leaders, tippet, and knots. Whether you’re new to fly fishing or have spent years exploring Arizona’s creeks, these are the techniques and equipment we regularly rely on when we’re out fishing. The day brought plenty of dry fly action, a few missed fish, and some great brown trout. We also cover the importance of researching fishing regulations, checking water temperatures, and understanding conditions before heading out. Ultimately, nothing beats spending time on the water, exploring new places, and learning something from every trip.
