Climbing Aster

Climbing aster (Symphyotrichum carolinianum) is a native wildflower that is a sprawling, woody, shrub that spreads rather climbs. It's other common names are Carolina aster and wild aster. It grows to about twenty feet in length when mature. It definitely needs room to roam. It's a great pollinator attractor and the bumblebees love it. It grows in wet to moist sites with zero maintenance. The flowers appear all year, but are most prolific in fall and winter. The large aster flowers are also very fragrant.
