At 4:40 on Friday, the road disappears. You rented a cabin in the mountains for one weekend, and nobody is coming before the wood runs out. We follow you day by day through 30 days snowed in: one wood stove, three days of food, frozen pipes, a car you're not allowed to start, and one thin line of chimney smoke across the valley. Every morning you flash a mirror at it. Every morning, two flashes come back. Never one. Never three. Real facts in this story: Eating snow cools your body from the inside. Melt it first. About 10 inches of snow melts into roughly 1 inch of water. If a car's tailpipe is buried in snow, exhaust fumes can come inside. Carbon monoxide has no smell. Wet wood barely burns: lots of smoke, very little heat. A mirror flash in sunlight can be seen for miles. Water pulls heat out of your body about 25 times faster than air. In a whiteout, pilots can't tell the ground from the sky, so rescue helicopters stay grounded. Frostnip: warm skin slowly in warm water. Don't rub it and don't hold it against a stove. 0:00 Day 1: 4:40 PM 0:35 Problem 1: Heat 1:03 Day 2: The Pipes Freeze 1:41 Day 4: The Car 2:27 Day 6: Wet Firewood 3:13 Day 8: Smoke Across The Valley 3:29 Day 9: SOS 4:08 Day 12: Out Of Food 4:34 Day 13: The Frozen Creek 4:53 Day 15: Fishing Through The Ice 5:40 Day 18: The Worst Day 6:03 Day 20: Frostnip 6:36 Day 29: The Storm Passes 7:11 Day 30: The Other Cabin 7:44 Footprints 8:04 Inventory This is a fictional animated story.
