Join us for our day at The Eagles Nest, situated in Obersalzberg near Berchtesgaden. This has been a long bucket list item and a great trip up such a historical mountain. Footage before the tragic fire on the 24th October 2026. • Location: The Eagle's Nest (known in German as the Kehlsteinhaus) sits atop the Kehlstein promontory in Obersalzberg near Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany. • Commission and Construction: Martin Bormann commissioned the building in 1937, and workers completed it in 1938 as a 50th birthday gift for Adolf Hitler. It opened on April 20, 1939. • Hitler's Use: Hitler actually visited the Eagle's Nest a relatively small number of times (around 14 or fewer). He preferred his nearby primary residence, the Berghof, because he disliked heights and the risk associated with the high-altitude elevator. He mainly used the site to host foreign dignitaries. • While U.S. and French units (including elements of the 3rd Infantry Division and the French 2nd Armored Division) moved into the Berchtesgaden and Obersalzberg area around May 4, the 101st Airborne arrived at the Eagle's Nest complex on May 5 and famously occupied and celebrated at the site Follow us on socials    / @gk_adventures   Twitter -   / gk_adventures_   Insta -   / gk_adventures_   Check out our photos - https://gkadventures.myportfolio.com/ 00:00 - Intro 01:02 - Bus to the Nest 10:06 - Entering the Eagles Nest 18:16 - Underground Tunnel System 19:39 - The Berghof Ruins
