March 24, 2026 I drove to Loretta Lynn's real childhood and birthplace home in Butcher Holler (Hollow) in Van Lear, Kentucky - in the Appalachian Mountains. It was gated off since they were still closed for the season, so I stood back by the creek (you can hear it rolling). On the way out, I passed the old yellow schoolhouse on bricks. I think this was the school the kids went to. I then stopped at Webb's Grocery (the family store and once the Company 5 coal mining store) and talked to and interviewed Mack Lowe, her cousin! He jumped right into history: showed the old dress, coal miner's light, family photos and spoke about her other famous siblings and shared family memories! Herman Webb, the brother of Loretta Lynn took over the Company 5 store in 1976. He passed in the year 2018. Also in this video you will see the old schoolhouse that Loretta attended! Loretta Lynn had 7 siblings: Melvin “Junior” Webb (1929–1993) Herman Webb (1934–2018) Willie “Jay” Lee Webb (1937–1996) Donald Ray Webb (1941–2017) Peggy Sue Wright (née Webb; born 1943) Betty Ruth Hopkins (née Webb; born 1946) Crystal Gayle (born Brenda Gail Webb; born 1951) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loretta.... https://wbkr.com/you-can-visit-lorett... https://paintsvilletourism.com/2022/1... https://www.wsaz.com/content/news/Fri... #LorettaLynn #ButcherHoller #CoalMinersDaughter #KentuckyHistory #Appalachia #companystore #script #appalachian #appalachianmountains #RoadTrip #hollow #cabin #countrymusic
