They sold him. He still forgave them. In this painting process video, I tell the story of Joseph from Genesis 37-50 through a voiceover and the creation of a painting called "11 Stars Forgiven". Joseph was betrayed by his own brothers, sold into slavery, and separated from his family. Yet when God raised him to a position of power, Joseph chose forgiveness instead of revenge. This painting represents the eleven brothers as broken pottery shards, each as a star from Joseph's dream in Genesis 37. Joseph's hand, filled with light, reaches toward them with kindness and forgiveness. Through Joseph's story, we are reminded of God's sovereignty, the power of forgiveness, and how God can work through even the most painful seasons of our lives.
