See Recipe #422 Vanilla Cream Sauce (below)
Ingredients:
5-6 leftover homemade buttermilk biscuits
9x9 or 7x11-inch pan
4 large eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
12 oz. can evaporated milk
1/2 cup water or :Optional: 2 cups of whole milk can be substituted for evaporated milk and
water
1/2 cup salted butter, melted
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, optional
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Instructions:
Whisk eggs, sugars, milk, water, butter, and spices in a bowl. Crumble biscuits into a greased
pan and pour the mixture over them. Soak for 20 minutes, then bake at 350°F for 40 minutes
(or 300°F if using a toaster oven) until set. Serve warm or cold.
MASTER COOKBOOK RECIPE #422 VANILLA CREAM SAUCE
Ingredients:
1 cup half & half
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/4 tsp salt
1 Tbsp corn starch
1 large egg
Instructions:
Whisk ingredients well - microwave on high for 3 minutes. The pudding should be thick; if not, microwave it until it thickens. Add:
1/2 cup half & half
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp salted butter
Whisk until smooth and serve over warm bread pudding or baked apples.
