Possibly my all time favourite racing game! Back when this came out, I played the hell out of the Shareware version and only later got my hands on the full version. It's as much a racing game as it is a top down shooter and this combo made it quite unique in those days and even now still to me.
The soundtrack is completely digitised, so it's not very interesting to compare soundsystems but I found that the stereo effects and the clarity of the output was quite fantastic on the GUS, compared to what I was used to from the SoundBlaster. I actually had to get my hands on a 512kb DRAM chip to upgrade my Ultrasound to 1024kb to get it to work with Death Rally. It was also tricky to record the Prepare to Race loading music, since my Pentium I 233 MMX loads the map within 2 seconds. I had to slow down my PC to a crawl with some software to record that bit. Death Rally reuses soundtracks for different race tracks, so I just picked the name of the first track I heard it on. I wasn't able to find a logical order and other YT videos seem to lack certain tracks.. I think I've got all tracks here now!
