Sometimes filming a documentary means having a plan. Sometimes it means following the road until the road disappears. In this behind-the-scenes travel vlog from NATIVE | The Prodigies of an Icon, our film crew heads into Jackson Hole, Wyoming, searching for bison against one of the most spectacular landscapes in North America — the Teton Mountains. Finding them turns out to be harder than expected. We hike into the backcountry, encounter a bear along the way, search miles of country without finding the herd, and even discover that some of the roads we planned to use have been washed out. But that's wildlife filmmaking. Eventually, the search pays off. We locate the bison and get the opportunity to film them moving through the landscape beneath the towering peaks of the Grand Tetons — exactly the kind of scene we had traveled to Wyoming hoping to capture.
