20 YEARS OF TRANSFORMING TRADE THROUGH THE WAREHOUSE RECEIPTS SYSTEM IN TANZANIA

From a single crop in 2006 to 18 crops and commodities across 23 regions, Tanzania's Warehouse Receipts System (WRS) continues to transform agricultural trade, empower farmers, strengthen market transparency and unlock economic opportunities. In the 2025/26 financial year , over 1.12 billion kilograms of commodities worth TZS 2.679 trillion were traded through digital auctions, with farmers and sellers receiving TZS 2.298 trillion.
