A normal day in rural Korea suddenly changed when our toddler got sick at daycare. She was diagnosed with hand, foot and mouth disease, so she had to stay home for several days. I canceled my classes, my husband came home after work, and we spent the next few days taking care of her together. Some days she was too tired to cry. Other days, she had enough energy to laugh, cry, and complain again.
