How do we overcome self-doubt, let go of limiting beliefs and find the courage to embrace change? In this Art Story, I explore personal transformation, self-discovery, and the possibility that who we are today isn't necessarily who we'll become. Through the creation of an original mixed-media painting featuring a woman surrounded by red and blue poppies, I reflect on the symbolism of the poppy, the Greek myth of Persephone and the changing seasons of our lives. For much of my life, I struggled with feeling small: questioning my own worth, comparing myself to others and believing that the life I wanted might be too much to ask for. I eventually found painting, and it became more than a way to express myself. It became a way to explore the parts of myself I had been afraid to see: my ambition, courage, POWER, dreams and desire for more. Now I'm building my art studio and creating painting collections around these ideas: ~ leaving behind the beliefs that kept me small ~ trusting my own vision ~ becoming the woman I'm capable of becoming With each painting, I'm learning to live outside of anyone's shadow and fully step into my own life.
