Gunung Kawi Sebatu is an 11th century Hindu water temple dedicated to Vishnu, who is said to rule over water. There is ritual bathing there as well as a beautiful collection of fountains and gardens. The handpainted temples here are some of the very best I’d seen in all of Bali and I was surprised it wasn’t more popular or talked about! It’s a short motorbike ride from Ubud and pairs really well with Kawi Tempaksiring, an 11th century funerary complex and temple. The atmopshere here was calm and beautiful and I really enjoyed wandering around in this peaceful setting. The sculptures and ornamentation around the big pools was so beautiful, and even the rain halfway through couldn’t deter me from finishing my video! I hope you enjoy the walk.
