Father, Forgive Them

“Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” “Father, Forgive Them” is an original Christian Scripture song centered on one of the most extraordinary prayers Jesus spoke from the cross. “Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.’” — Luke 23:34 (WEB) Jesus spoke these words while being mocked, rejected, and crucified. In the middle of unimaginable suffering, His response was not revenge. It was prayer. He asked the Father for forgiveness for the very people responsible for His suffering. That is a picture of grace beyond anything human strength naturally produces. This passage confronts us with the heart of Christ and with one of the hardest commands of the Christian life: to forgive, to pray for those who wrong us, and to trust God with justice. It also points to the reason Jesus came. The cross was not merely an example of forgiveness—it was the place where Christ gave Himself for sinners so that forgiveness and reconciliation with God could be made possible. “Father, Forgive Them” is a song about mercy in the face of hatred, grace in the face of sin, and the love of Jesus Christ displayed at the cross. 🎵 Bible Through Music The Broken and Redeemed creates Scripture-rooted Christian music for the broken, searching, struggling, and everyone who knows they need the grace of God.
