Launching Connect, Learn, Thrive: Our approach to workforce wellbeing and development

On Tuesday 30 June 2026, a special online event took place to officially launch Connect, Learn, Thrive (CLT) - an approach to ensure that Cheshire and Merseyside is recognised as the very best place to practice public health. The launch brought together colleagues from across our nine local authorities, the NHS and the wider system, reflecting the collective strength and collaboration that define public health in our subregion. At the heart of CLT is the understanding that our people are our greatest asset. When colleagues feel supported, valued and connected, when ongoing development is encouraged and when wellbeing and kindness are prioritised, our workforce is empowered to deliver its most effective and impactful work. During the launch event, we introduced the three pillars that underpin CLT and how they come together through the Champs Public Health Collaborative, highlighting practical opportunities and sharing insights from colleagues already involved in shaping this evolving model. We also shared the CLT public health pathway - an exciting new resource for our people in Cheshire and Merseyside to help understand where they currently are on their career journey and what they need to do if they’re ready for the next step.
