I Reached the Seven Wonders of the World! 🇿🇲 (Victoria Falls) || S3 Episode 107 || World Tour

Today was the day! I finally visited one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World—Victoria Falls, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe. This was an unforgettable experience, and I want to share everything with you. --- 🌊 History of Victoria Falls The falls have been known to local people for centuries. They called it Mosi-oa-Tunya, which means "The Smoke That Thunders" —a perfect name for a place where you can see the mist rising from kilometers away . The first European to see the falls was the Scottish missionary and explorer Dr. David Livingstone on November 16, 1855. He wrote in his journal: "Scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight" . Livingstone named the falls after Queen Victoria of Britain . Some people today still debate whether he truly "discovered" it, since local communities had lived there for generations. But regardless, his visit brought the falls to the world's attention . --- 🎟️ Ticket & Entry I visited from the Zambian side, which is inside Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. The entrance fee is $20 for international visitors** (as of 2024) . There is also a **Zimbabwe side**, which costs about **$50 and offers more viewpoints—around 75% of the falls . If you have time and a KAZA UniVisa ($50), you can visit both sides in one day . --- 💧 The Boiling Pot One of the most dramatic spots I saw was The Boiling Pot. This is the deep, swirling pool where all the water from the falls crashes down into the gorge. During high water, it looks like a giant pot of water boiling—hence the name . It's located below the Victoria Falls Bridge and is the launching point for white water rafting trips. The explorer Major Serpa Pinto once described it as "a hell of water and darkness" . I can confirm—it's intense! --- 🏛️ UNESCO World Heritage Status Victoria Falls was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1989 . It shares this honor with other natural wonders like the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef. In fact, in July 2025, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee officially endorsed the Mosi-oa-Tunya/Victoria Falls Declaration, reaffirming its global importance . --- 🏡 Back at the Hostel After an amazing day of exploring, I returned to Jolly Boys Hostel in Livingstone. It was Thursday night, which meant two wonderful things: free vegetarian dinner and free beer! I enjoyed great food, cold drinks, and good company with fellow travelers.
