🚆 THREE DAYS OF RAILWAY ACTION | LONDON PADDINGTON & SELLY OAK, BIRMINGHAM | GWR NIGHT RIVIERA SLEEPER Welcome to another railway video! This time we’re covering three days of railway filming across two locations in two cities – London Paddington and Selly Oak in Birmingham. Filmed across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, this video features three Empty Coaching Stock (ECS) departures of Great Western Railway’s famous Night Riviera Sleeper from London Paddington to Reading Traincare Depot, alongside a variety of passenger services at both locations. Wednesday’s footage was particularly unexpected, with delays and a locomotive fault providing an opportunity we otherwise wouldn’t have had! 📍 MONDAY – LONDON PADDINGTON & SELLY OAK 🌅 London Paddington – Morning We begin at London Paddington, one of the capital’s busiest railway termini and the London hub of the Great Western Main Line. The main highlight is the GWR Night Riviera Sleeper, which we capture departing Paddington as an ECS working bound for Reading Traincare Depot, following its overnight passenger journey from Penzance. Alongside the sleeper, we also capture the busy morning passenger traffic, with commuter and long-distance services arriving and departing from Paddington. 🚉 Selly Oak – Afternoon/Evening Our second location of the day was a rather unexpected addition! Finding myself just south of Birmingham New Street on Monday afternoon, I decided to spend some time at Selly Oak, capturing the late afternoon and early evening passenger traffic heading towards and away from Birmingham. Selly Oak sits on Birmingham’s busy Cross-City Line, which also forms part of an important railway corridor into Birmingham New Street for services travelling from the south and west of England and South Wales. This includes services connecting Birmingham with destinations such as Penzance, Bristol, Cardiff Central, Worcester and Hereford, making it a busy and interesting location for railway enthusiasts. 📍 TUESDAY – LONDON PADDINGTON 🌅 Another Early Morning at Paddington Tuesday sees us return to London Paddington for another early morning filming session. Once again, the main highlight is the GWR Night Riviera Sleeper, captured departing Paddington as an ECS movement bound for Reading Traincare Depot. We also capture the surrounding morning passenger traffic, with a variety of services arriving and departing as the station gets into its usual busy morning routine. 📍 WEDNESDAY – LONDON PADDINGTON 🚆 A THIRD NIGHT RIVIERA DEPARTURE – AN UNEXPECTED BONUS! Wednesday’s visit was slightly different, with our filming focused solely on the Night Riviera Sleeper’s ECS departure to Reading Traincare Depot. However, under normal circumstances, we wouldn’t have been able to capture this movement! A late arrival from Penzance, combined with a locomotive fault, delayed the sleeper’s movements just enough for us to capture its third ECS departure from Paddington in the same week! Without these delays, Wednesday’s footage simply wouldn’t have been possible, making it an unexpected bonus to round off three days of railway filming. 🎥 WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS VIDEO 🚆 Three GWR Night Riviera Sleeper ECS departures from London Paddington to Reading Traincare Depot 🚄 Morning passenger traffic at London Paddington on Monday and Tuesday 🚉 Late afternoon and early evening passenger services at Selly Oak, Birmingham 🚆 Railway action across the Great Western Main Line and Birmingham’s Cross-City Line ⚠️ An unexpected third sleeper departure captured thanks to delays and a locomotive fault Two cities, two locations, three days of filming and three Night Riviera Sleeper departures! 👍 ENJOYED THE VIDEO?
