I'm 38, running a business, and in perimenopause. Here are the 4 symptoms that hit me first, and what's actually helping. Day 8 of 100. This year I started changing in ways I wasn't ready for. When perimenopause starts in your late 30s, it's hard to name at first, so you blame yourself instead. You call yourself lazy, unfocused, or dramatic, when your body is actually changing. If you're a high performer who's just starting to notice something's different, this one's for you. I talk through: 1. Exhaustion. Waking up tired after 8 or 9 hours of sleep, why I'm working around my energy instead of fighting it, and finding energy beyond coffee. 2. Brain fog. Losing words mid-sentence as someone who's been a wordsmith her whole life, and how the systems I built for my ADHD now save me here too. 3. Irritability. The day a barking dog and a re-uploaded video sent me into a full toddler tantrum, and what it taught me. 4. Hot flashes and night sweats. The one everybody talks about, and the only fix I've found so far. Plus: why perimenopause isn't a punishment or a problem to fix. It's a season, and a privilege that not everyone gets to reach. This is my experience, not medical advice. Talk to your doctor about what you're going through. If you're in this season too, tell me in the comments: what did you notice first?
