A man is dying on a cross with maybe three hours left. We don't know his name. He turns to the man beside him and asks only to be remembered, and he hears the clearest sentence in the Bible about what happens the moment you die: "Today you will be with me in paradise."
Most of us picture the afterlife through greeting cards, funeral sermons and a man on a cloud with a harp. The Bible says something more specific and more surprising. This video walks through it in order:
The moment of death: dust and breath, Sheol, and the glimpses in Job, David and Daniel
The time between: the thief, Lazarus, Moses on the mountain, and Paul's "depart and be with Christ"
The body: why heaven is where you wait, and resurrection is where you end
The judgment: the books, the Book of Life, and what Jesus said about hell
The end: the last enemy, a new heaven and a new earth, and whether you will know them
It is honest about where faithful Christians disagree: soul sleep, purgatory and the nature of hell. It also covers the one thing the Bible says about death itself that almost no one hears at a funeral.
