EA Sports NHL '96 - All-star Season 1 Whalers Game 6 | The Whalers Host the New York Rangers in HTF

The Whalers' Win Train was chugging steadily but with some close games so far this season. Game six saw the New York Rangers coming to Hartford. The 1st period was very even and both teams had chances but there were no goals. Shots at the 1st intermission were HTF 17 and NYR 18. The Whalers got the first goal a bit less than two minutes into the 2nd period when Geoff Sanderson beat Mike Richter high glove-side with a shot from just above the circle off a pass from Andrew Cassels. About three minutes later they struck again on the powerplay with Geoff Sanderson going top-glove bar-down on the backhand from right in front off a pass from Andrew Cassels. That put Hartford in the comfort zone at 2-0. They established the coveted 3-goal lead at 3-0 with twelve-and-a-half minutes to go. Geoff Sanderson beat Mike Richter top-glove bar-down again from between the hashes off a pass from Andrew Cassels to complete his natural hat-trick. Shots at the 2nd intermission were HTF 35 and NYR 27. There was only one goal in the 3rd period and it broke Sean Burke's shut-out bid. A long shot by Adam Graves was lost by Sean Burke and found the carom spot to slide in against the post after the rebound. Hartford's 2nd period effort was enough to secure the win 3-1. Enjoy!
