BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 2010's
Wandsworth Road Station (South London)
19th May 2012
I arrived at Wandsworth Road Station around 09.15 on this rather mundane weatherwise morning to witness a couple of special trains. On this occasion amongst the EMU Classes 455 (In Southern Livery) and 456 on the stopping services from and to London Victoria and London Bridge, as well as the 465 EMU Class units on the Kent routes, wearing the "Capital Connect" and South Eastern liveries, and the Class 375s. Dual Voltage Locomotive 92041 'Vaughan Williams' passes on a freight, coming off Factory Junction heading for Dollands Moor. The specials were the Golden Arrow Statesman's Birmingham New Street to Canterbury West, with Steam Locomotive 34067 'Tangmere' at the head with Locomotive 47854 trailing on the back (1Z61). After around 50 minutes later The VSOE passed by (1Z22) from London Victoria to Deal and Folkestone, Top'n'Tailed with 67029 'Royal Diamond' and 67005 'Queen's Messenger', a good morning's catch thankfully. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read, and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually..
