RAILWAYS AROUND BIRMINGHAM Part 1 of 4 SOLIHULL STATION 28th July 2026 Having returned from my brief visit to The Harz and Belgium, I gave an area a visit I had not been to for a while. Concentrating on the area around the Midlands City of Birmingham. I started at Solihull Station to the south of the metropolis. A busy location for freight and passenger traffic, operated by Chiltern Railways, serving Stratford .U.A and Reading, Birmingham Moor Street - London Marylebone and V.V., with some services being hauled/pushed by class 68 Locomotives. Passing 'Voyagers' serving the North and South and Class 168/170/172 DMU's serving many local places such as Worcester, Moor Street, Snow Hill and Kidderminster, just to mention a few. All the freight traffic I witnessed on this day were in the hands of a variety of Class 66 Locomotives in different company liveries, mainly container traffic.
