🚨 *SOUTH KIVU: REPORTED DRONE STRIKE IN MASANGO, “HIBOUX” FIGHTERS REQUEST REINFORCEMENTS* Footage circulating online, presented as showing the aftermath of a drone strike in **Masango, South Kivu**, has raised questions about casualties and conditions facing Congolese government forces in the highlands. Posts accompanying the footage claim that FARDC personnel identifying themselves as *“Hiboux” commandos* lost several comrades and requested reinforcements. Reported death tolls vary between seven and approximately ten. *The precise casualty figure, recording date, location and responsibility for the alleged strike have not been independently established in this report.* Rwanda Updates examines these claims alongside reports of fighting and shifting military positions around **Rugezi, Gipimo, Kuwamabuye, Gihuha, Kabanju and Biziba**. We distinguish claims attributed to FRN-aligned sources from independently established developments, including uncertainty over control of some positions. The report also covers the civilian consequences of road closures in **North Kivu**. Residents, traders and transport representatives describe shortages, rising costs and longer journeys following disruptions on the **Goma–Walikale and Nyabiondo–Pinga roads**. These are separate developments across two provinces, connected by the growing impact of conflict on soldiers, civilian safety, transport and household livelihoods. *JOURNALISM DISCLAIMER* Rwanda Updates Media is committed to factual, balanced and responsible reporting.
