Cruising from Hull Marina to Wells-Next-The-Sea, August 2026. Starts smooth, ends choppy.

Myself and my wife taking our motor cruiser from Hull marina to Wells-next-the-sea, August 2026. The first quarter of this video is timelapsed with no audio or silly music, the remainder is standard UHD realtime footage from being anchored, then the approach and entering wells harbour, audio mainly being wind noise due to the weather that day. The weather started off nice but a strong north-easterly wind started blowing in, making the last half of the trip very uncomfortable. I myself was unwell after just over an hour in - a combination of curry night before, a hangover, and mild seasickness was a bad combination, luckily my wife was able to take command when I could not function. Anchoring up to wait for the tide was not a great idea in retrospect, the swell really picked up and made it very uncomfortable indeed. Wells-next-the-sea is only accessible from the sea for a short window around high water, we could leave Hull marina a maximum of 3 hours after high water, this left an excess of time that would of been reduced had we cruised at the low speed we started off at, however the sea state meant that was a very rough ride, so we sped up. The boat was tested at some really awkward angles when making for the entrance channel at wells, breaking waves pushing us along and round due to the strong tide. Lessons were learned that day. The boat is a 1990 Princess 435, powered by twin Volvo Penta diesel engines (TAMD61A's 306hp each). Full speed for this boat in still water is 26 knots, cruising speed approx 18 knots. Fuel used on this trip was approximately 350 litres. Distance covered on this trip was 59.9 Nm according to the GPS log. Camera is an old GoPro HERO 12 black with maxlens 2.0 mod. I'm sorry the camera was mounted wonky at times.
