Part 1 of working on my 1960 Chevrolet Corvair 700, and we’re finally starting to take the car apart and see what we’re working with. For the first day, I removed both the front and rear seats so I could start cleaning out the interior and actually see what’s underneath everything. The inside was pretty nasty after sitting for so long. There was dirt, rocks, bugs, pieces from the old carpeting and a bunch of other stuff that had collected underneath the seats and around the interior over the years. I vacuumed a lot of it out and got the loose stuff cleaned up, but there’s obviously still a lot more cleaning and work ahead. Taking the seats out also gives me way more room to work as I eventually start dealing with the carpet, upholstery, floor and the rest of the interior. And at the end of the video, we finally cranked the engine over. We didn’t hook up the external fuel supply and actually try starting it this time, but the engine does crank, which is at least a good place to start. This is only Part 1. I bought this Corvair for $1,800, and I’m planning on documenting basically everything I do to it from here — cleaning it, taking things apart, repairing what needs to be repaired and eventually getting this thing back on the road. A lot more coming. TikTok: @chrisofnh Instagram: @stevensofnh #ChevyCorvair #ChevroletCorvair #1960Corvair #Corvair #ProjectCar #ClassicCar #CarRestoration #ClassicChevy #CorvairRestoration #ChrisOfNH
