9 साल बाद ₹57 लाख बिजली बिल! SC ने चुकाई Demand? | Supreme Court का बड़ा फैसला

सोचिए, आपने कोई अतिरिक्त बिजली लोड लिया ही नहीं, उसका इस्तेमाल भी नहीं किया और 9 साल बाद आपको ₹57 लाख का बिल थमा दिया जाए! यही हुआ इस मामले में। वर्ष 1997 में एक उद्योगपति ने 4,000 KVA बिजली लोड के लिए आवेदन किया, लेकिन बिजली कंपनी ने केवल 2,000 KVA लोड स्वीकृत किया। बाद में कंपनी ने अतिरिक्त 2,000 KVA लेने का विकल्प दिया, लेकिन उपभोक्ता ने साफ मना कर दिया। न अतिरिक्त लोड लिया गया और न उसका इस्तेमाल हुआ। लेकिन लगभग 9 साल बाद, 13 फरवरी 2007 को बिजली कंपनी ने ₹57,74,164 की Demand Notice जारी कर दी और कहा कि अतिरिक्त लोड के लिए Minimum Consumption Guarantee Charges देय हैं। मामला CGRF और Electricity Ombudsman से होते हुए High Court और फिर Supreme Court पहुंचा। Supreme Court के सामने मुख्य सवाल था—क्या बिजली कंपनी इतने वर्षों बाद पुराने बकाये की recovery कर सकती है?
