1984 Colnago Master Restoration: Reviving an Italian Racing Icon In this video, I restore a Colnago Master — one of the most legendary road bikes ever built by Colnago, the Italian brand founded by Ernesto Colnago, who started his career at just 13 years old and opened his own workshop in 1952 after a racing accident. Colnago went on to collaborate with cycling legends like Eddy Merckx and Giuseppe Saronni, constantly pushing frame design forward. The Master is built from Columbus steel tubing in Colnago's signature star-shaped profile (Gilco Design), paired with a full Campagnolo Super Record groupset — shifters, derailleurs, brakes, and crankset all Super Record, running on Mavic MA40 rims and Campagnolo Record hubs, with a 3ttt stem and a Turbo Selle Italia saddle. The frame's distinctive design and noble finish have made it an absolute classic among vintage racing bikes, prized for its precision and stability by professionals and enthusiasts alike.
