Smuggled From Africa: The Rescue of Kiki the Chimpanzee | Monkey Life Season 5 Episode 17

Dr. Allison Cronin, animal director Jeremy Keeling, and wildlife vet John Lewis are on a high-stakes mission in Beirut, Lebanon, to rescue a lonely chimpanzee named Kiki. Smuggled from the wild in Africa as a baby, Kiki has lived in a cage since she became too boisterous for her owners to handle. However, the rescue hits a major snag when the team realizes Kiki’s cage is rusted shut! With Kiki anesthetized, Jeremy must use an angle grinder to break her out before she wakes up. Once safely in her transport box, the team faces a tense wait at the airport, hoping all their paperwork is approved by the Lebanese government so Kiki can fly back to the UK to join a family of chimpanzees. Back at the sanctuary, watch as an overweight rescue orangutan named Oshene makes incredible progress with her clicker training and diet! Monkey Life follows the work of Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre with nail-biting rescue and rehabilitation stories. Whilst there are primates in need, Dr. Alison Cronin, Jeremy Keeling and their dedicated team continue to fight the illegal trade in primates and give those rescued a safe haven for the rest of their lives.
