2026 Texas 200 (Part 3) - The Wrong Way

Tropical Storm Arthur came out of the Pacific and swept across Mexico then began to drench the Texas coast. I decided to pull out. Glad I did. My cockpit became a freshwater bathtub a few times. What I didn't know was the cockpit has a leak into the bilge somewhere. My boat was full of rainwater, although the tons of pool noodles in the bilge did their job displacing what would have been a whole lot more! Once on her trailer I found out the extent of the load I was carrying. A LOT of water! Would have been a tremendous strain on the rudder and foils. Reminder, add an easy access for bilge pumping…dummy. Arthur quickly passed and swept northward leaving wonderful sailing weather in its wake. Julie encouraged me to stay and relaunch at Maggy Beach. Logistically that's an exhausting exercise, particularly in the extreme humidity and heat in the wake of the storm. But I did just that. What followed was my first wrong way sail to Army Hole. It's a long video I know. I didn't sail much this time and so this is my way of enjoying what little I sailed over and over again. I motored and sailed a total of three days out of six, 90 miles of the full 200. Cheers.
