Møllergata Social Club | Episode 2: Takeover Møllergata is Oslo’s urban backyard, with creativity deeply woven into its DNA. In 2024, Marthe Hem, a passionate advocate for graffiti and the talented people behind it, first brought the community together with property developers for Møllergata 4-ever - an initiative that filled the developers’ building with art before its demolition. Marthe built trust between these unlikely collaborators, giving artists the freedom to express themselves - and laid the foundation for what Møllergata Social Club is today. Looking at its gray, uninviting courtyard, the people behind the future The Hoxton Oslo saw a place where those connections could continue. Following Marthe’s unexpected passing earlier this year, they initiated a shared tribute that would also give Møllergata’s graffiti culture a genuine place in its next chapter. There was no fixed plan for how everything would work out, but the wish to honor Marthe brought this community together again. More than 70 artists from Oslo and beyond contributed to turning 400 m² of asphalt and 600 m² of walls into a collective artwork. “Takeover” continues our three-part film series about the project.
