A simple family outing to gather crab apples became a vivid reminder of unearned provision. Just as those apples grew and fell without any labor of our own, the children of Israel entered the Promised Land and reaped fields they did not plant, houses they did not build, and fruit trees they did not tend—all gifts from the hand of the Lord. In this Thanksgiving message we explore how little of life we actually control, and how every blessing—health, relationships, daily provision, and above all salvation—comes as a bounty from God. Through the seven appointed feasts of Leviticus 23 we see a prophetic calendar that points forward to Christ: the Passover Lamb, the First Fruits of the resurrection, the outpouring of the Spirit at Pentecost, the coming judgment, and the ultimate rest of the heavenly Zion. Like Israel dwelling in fragile booths, we live in vulnerability, yet we are called to trust the Lord completely, give generously, and cultivate a daily habit of gratitude. The greatest unearned gift of all is Christ Himself—our Passover Lamb whose blood covers us and grants full access into the presence of God.
