The debate over DJs and high-decibel music during Ganeshotsav has reached Mumbai, with Mumbaikars giving mixed reactions on loud music during Ganesh visarjan. While some residents want DJs and high-decibel music banned, citing concerns for senior citizens, children and others affected by excessive noise, others say Ganpati is a festival people eagerly wait for all year. However, many agree that strict restrictions should be followed to control excessive noise. Mumbai’s Ganeshotsav mandals have been permitted to use loudspeakers and amplifiers until midnight on four visarjan days that is September 15, 18, 19 and 25 subject to prescribed noise limits, court orders and other regulations. So, what does Mumbai think? Should loud DJ music be allowed during Ganesh Visarjan, or should the celebrations be quieter? Watch this ground report by Lokmat Times reporter Darrell Miranda.
