“Count It” started with the words of James 1:2–4 and a simple songwriting challenge: What if a song about counting it all joy actually counted? The verses count from one to twelve using people, moments, and truths throughout Scripture—little reminders of God’s faithfulness across the biblical story. But the chorus brings it back to what James meant by “count it all joy.” Trials aren’t joyful because they’re easy or good, but because God can use the testing of our faith to produce endurance and maturity in us. And when the trouble starts adding up, we can still count on Him. James 1:2–4 (CSB): “Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.” Lyrics written by Whit. Music created with Suno AI.
