The Destination: Dabbaguli Located in the Mallehalli Reserve Forest area of Krishnagiri district, Tamil Nadu, Dabbaguli is a geographical anomaly. Even though it is situated on the Tamil Nadu side of the border, the local villagers predominantly speak Kannada. This happens because the village is deeply isolated from the rest of Tamil Nadu by the thick North Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, making its cultural ties stronger with the neighboring Karnataka side. The Journey from the Mandya/Karnataka Side:The Drive: Your journey will take you through pristine countryside roads before hitting the forest fringes. The final 5 to 6 kilometers are pure, unpaved mud trails. It is a proper off-roading experience filled with bumps, narrow forest canopy, and a complete loss of mobile network. The Scenery: As you navigate the trail, you will be surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of the deep forest. You will physically cross the border, often seeing signboards playfully mixing Tamil and Kannada. The Temple & River: The route terminates at the ancient Shri Dhabbaguli Basaveshwara Swami Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Right next to it is a breathtaking, wide waterfront where the Kaveri river flows gently over a rocky bed.Caution: Because this is an active wildlife corridor, it is common for elephants to visit the riverbanks, and crocodiles are known to inhabit the waters. Visitors are strongly advised not to venture deep into the water and to respect the 8 AM to 5 PM forest check-post timings. 0:00 - 0:45 | Intro: The Hidden Border Village Drone shots or wide angles of the Kaveri river and the lush forest canopy.
