Build stronger, more controlled ballet feet and ankles with this Pre-Pointe Foot & Ankle Strength workout! 🩰 In this Dance with Ms. Sam class, we’ll work through Theraband, barre, and yoga block exercises designed to build foot and ankle strength, articulation, alignment, stability, and control. We’ll focus especially on maintaining proper ankle alignment, avoiding sickling and pronation, and learning to articulate through the feet and toes. This class is great for ballet dancers looking to strengthen the foundations needed for more advanced ballet technique and future pointe work. In this class, we’ll work on: • Theraband pointe & flex exercises • Toe articulation (“Barbie toes”) • Theraband toe separation • Winging and ankle control • Élevés and relevés in parallel and first position • Single-leg strength in coupé • Tendus from demi-pointe to full pointe • Yoga block exercises for ankle alignment and control • Toe curls for foot strength and articulation Equipment you’ll need: • Theraband or resistance band • Ballet barre or another safe, sturdy support • Yoga block ✨ A note about pre-pointe training: Strong feet and ankles are an important part of preparing for pointe work, but pointe readiness involves much more than strength alone. Technique, alignment, physical development, training history, and individual readiness all matter. Dancers should begin pointe work only under the guidance of a qualified ballet teacher who can evaluate them individually. I’m Ms. Sam, a dance teacher with nearly 20 years of teaching experience.
