"All positive, no negatives": How one homeowner made his property more wildfire-ready

What does wildfire resilience look like in real life? In this video, longtime resident Dana Shultz shares why he decided to make his property more wildfire-ready, the simple steps he took to reduce risk, and why he's glad he did it. With guidance from the Fire Department, Dana created a five-foot ember-resistant zone in front of his home, covered vents, and made thoughtful changes that improved safety while preserving the plants and character he loves. His story offers a real-life example of what wildfire resilience can look like in Piedmont. Dana was recognized as one of the City of Piedmont’s first Wildfire Resilience Award recipients, part of the Design and Sustainability Awards program.
