O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (Willcocks) (West Point Cadet Chapel Organ)

West Point Organist Craig Williams plays the famous Advent hymn "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel," a translation by John Mason Neale (for Hymns Ancient and Modern) of a 9th century chant text, putting together paraphrases of the O Antiphons, sung in the days right before Christmas. The tune is possibly from a 15th century (or earlier) French source of chants, associated so strongly with the words that it was given the name "Veni Emmanuel." The third through fifth stanza harmonizations of this arrangement are taken mostly from David Willcocks's setting of this hymn. #pipeorgan #hymn #advent #westpoint
