What I Do When I’m Running On Fumes

I have an imaginary little purple velvet coin purse somewhere near my heart. The things that bring me joy add shiny gold coins. The things that take emotional energy, spend them. When my son was little, it became a game between us. If my purse ran out of coins, I'd ask him for a hug, and imagine we could hear the coins clinking back in. Years later, I realized that silly little coin purse was teaching me something I'm still learning. I can't only spend the coins. I need to recognize when I need to replenish them.
