In this video, I’ll show you how to paint a German MG42 squad member inspired by the gritty visuals of Enlisted. We focus on creating a realistic "Autumn Oak Leaf" camouflage pattern and a frost-bitten Eastern Front atmosphere.
From the layered wool of the greatcoat to the mud-caked boots, this step-by-step guide covers the full process of bringing this 1:35 scale soldier to life.
Paint List & Techniques:
• The Camo Parka: Started with a Pale Brown base, followed by Light Brown spots and Camouflage Black Brown layering to create that high-contrast "Oak Leaf" pattern.
• The Greatcoat: Basecoat of German Tank Crew II, layered with German Field Grey, and highlighted with a Sky Grey mix to simulate frozen fabric.
• Backpack: Painted in Khaki and layered with German Camo Beige for a sun-bleached canvas look.
• Weapon Highlights: Used Gunmetal on the MP40 to simulate worn steel edges.
• The Base: A foundation of Chocolate Brown (mud), Concrete (rocks), and Winter Grass tufts.
• Weathering & Snow: I used White Grey (AK) for both the fallen snow and the weathering on the boots and coat to pull the whole winter scene together.
