Kingdom VelPAK (Velit) Depth Conversion with HiDef Velocities

The module is part of our comprehensive Depth Conversion toolset which is incorporated as an integrated module within IHS Kingdom platform (branded as VelPAK) and plugs into Schlumberger's Petrel platform (branded as Velit). The module is used for sophisticated velocity modelling for depth conversion, provides realistic velocity data for attributes and can also provide a macromodel input for seismic inversion packages. This enables the user to interactively model geological scenarios per layer, with the user being able to control the degree of smoothing and what available data should be included in the model. HiDef uses a sophisticated algorithm to de-trend the data and then uses (‘3D Kriging’) to interpolate the residuals to conform to the background model trends, which blends the volume with the existing volume. The user is able to individually select and control which wells and/or layers to use, with the error correction method being applied smoothly to volumes for an exact tie to the tops.
