Winching at Portmoak, 23rd-25th Sept 2026

Glider : Avian Puma DXL Superb 3 days flying from the winch at Portmoak. Managed 9 flights in total, but camera issues meant only 5 were videod. An excellent few days flying with friends at the gliding club, with facilities for campervan/tent stopovers and overnight rooms available. I'd thoroughly recommend training for winch towing and joining in. Don't be misled by seeing 3 weak link breaks. The first break occurred because the winch was accidentally pulling 2 lines in together; at the point the second line tow was stopped, power to my line spiked causing the weak link break. For the other two breaks, we were launching in fairly breezy conditions so the line was under increased strain. It's reassuring to see the weak link working in these situations.
